White Badge PartnerSCENT has reduced up to 200 metric tons of carbon emissions in the current year. Carbon dioxide emissions, the principal cause of global warming, are an inevitable consequence of energy use. Every time an individual or organization uses electricity for lighting, fuel for transport, etc., additional carbon emissions are released into the atmosphere. SCENT has partnered with TerraPass to sponsor clean energy and carbon reduction projects that result in a verified, measurable reduction in carbon emissions.
SCENT emissions reductions2011: 9 metric tons of CO2 reduced 2010: 2 metric tons of CO2 reduced 2009: 2 metric tons of CO2 reduced 2008: 13 metric tons of CO2 reduced SCENT has balanced emissions from these sources: Fleet offsetVehicles owned by an organization, including company cars, vans, and trucks.About the TerraPass Badge ProgramOrganizations that purchase carbon offsets through TerraPass are eligible to become a TerraPass Badge Partner. Badges come in three levels, indicating the amount of carbon emissions reduced. A White Badge signifies a reduction of up to 200 metric tons of carbon emissions. A Blue Badge indicates a reduction of between 200 and 1,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. A Green Badge indicates a reduction of over 1,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. Badge Level is determined by the amount of carbon reductions sponsored within the past 365 days. Reductions that took place more than 365 days ago do not count toward Badge eligibility. TerraPass provides tools and consultations to help partners estimate their carbon footprint, but TerraPass does not certify the results of these calculations. All energy use figures are self-reported by Badge Partners, and partners are not required to balance 100% of their emissions to be eligible for the TerraPass Badge program. |
