Dental Salon has reduced between 200 and 1,000 metric tons of carbon emissions in the current year.

Carbon dioxide emissions, the principal cause of global warming, are an inevitable consequence of energy use. Every time an individual or organization uses electricity for lighting, fuel for transport, etc., additional carbon emissions are released into the atmosphere.

Dental Salon has partnered with TerraPass to sponsor clean energy and carbon reduction projects that result in a verified, measurable reduction in carbon emissions.

About Dental Salon

Dental Salon is a group dental practice in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago that is open extended hours seven days a week. They offer a complete range of services in one convenient location. From routine check-ups to full mouth rehabilitation, Dental Salon has every aspect of dentistry covered with general dentists and specialists all in the same office.

Dental Salon is affordable. They are preferred providers for all major dental insurance plans as well as offering discounts for individuals who don't have insurance of up to 25% off normal fees.

In addition to their sponsorship of clean energy and carbon reduction projects through TerraPass, Dental Salon does it's best to remain environmentally conscious in an industry where many materials are disposable and waste is prevalent. Efforts include paperless charting, maintaining a mercury-free office and occupancy sensor lighting with compact florescent bulbs reducing electrical consumption considerably. Dental Salon also processes all of their patient's x-rays digitally. This process eliminates the need for film based processing chemicals as well as up to 90% less radiation than a traditional dental x-ray system.

About the TerraPass Badge Program

Organizations that purchase carbon offsets through TerraPass are eligible to become a TerraPass Badge Partner. Badges come in three levels, indicating the amount of carbon emissions reduced.

A White Badge signifies a reduction of up to 200 metric tons of carbon emissions. A Blue Badge indicates a reduction of between 200 and 1,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. A Green Badge indicates a reduction of over 1,000 metric tons of carbon emissions.

Badge Level is determined by the amount of carbon reductions sponsored within the past 365 days. Reductions that took place more than 365 days ago do not count toward Badge eligibility.

TerraPass provides tools and consultations to help partners estimate their carbon footprint, but TerraPass does not certify the results of these calculations. All energy use figures are self-reported by Badge Partners, and partners are not required to balance 100% of their emissions to be eligible for the TerraPass Badge program.
