New Project: Hancock County landfill

Hancock County landfill in Findlay, Ohio has contracted with Granger Energy Services to collect and destroy gas coming off decomposing waste at the landfill. There is currently a flare burning off the methane gas – with 21 times the warming potential of carbon dioxide – but Granger plans on installing a generator on site that will use the gas productively to create electricity.

We hope you’ll take a moment to check out the project and weigh in at <projects@terrapass.com> by November 18.

Wonderful! There are undoubtedly additional landfills across the country that could be used to capture methane for either generating electricity or supplying domestic gas for heating and cooking. Even relatively small scale projects could eventually be benificial in the long run.
Granger and Findley County are to be commended for agreeing to the project.
