TerraPass and Expedia partner to bring travelers carbon balanced flight

A Flight TerraPass funds clean energy projects such as wind farms.

Balance out your "carbon footprint" through TerraPass. By funding clean energy and conservation projects, you can sponsor a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions that is directly proportional to the emissions created by your plane flight.

When you fund clean energy through TerraPass, you're joining with thousands of others from all walks of like to make a real impact. Best of all, it's surprisingly easy and affordable to balance out your own impact.

Air travel is a major source of the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. A single cross-country plane flight burns about 100 gallons of fuel per passenger. That's as much as most people use in four months of driving.

Concerned citizens have been taking the lead on this pressing environmental issue by taking responsibility for their own greenhouse gas emissions. By joining with thousands of others, they're making real, tangible progress in the fight against global warming.

What is TerraPass?

TerraPass is a company with a mission to put practical tools for fighting climate change in the hands of ordinary citizens. Recognizing their success, last year Ford Motor Company chose TerraPass in a first-of-its-kind partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Now Expedia has picked TerraPass for another pioneering program dedicated to positive environmental action.

Use our flight emissions calculator to see how much greenhouse gas pollution your flying creates.

TerraPass has received a lot of attention for its unique model and message, including stories in the The New York Times, BusinessWeek, USA Today, Wired Magazine, and on CBS.

No one takes accountability more seriously than TerraPass does. All TerraPass purchases are verified by an annual third-party audit, which we publish on our website.

Where does the money go?

When you buy a carbon offset from TerraPass, your money supports clean energy and other projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

TerraPass funds three different project types: clean energy produced by wind power; farm power which makes good use of animal wastes; and landfill gas capture, which reduces the impact of our own wastes.

What you get

TerraPass is available at three levels, which you can match to your own level of impact. Choose a TerraPass based on the round-trip distance of your flight. The farther you fly the more fuel you burn. You can also contribute more and help balance the "carbon footprint" of other fliers.

TerraPass product contents are verified by an independent third-party auditor.
