Notes about Meter compatability
- The PowerCost Monitor™ can be deployed on over 95% of all meters installed on single family, residential homes in North America.
- It is not intended for commercial meters, apartment or multi-family dwellings, or locations where the meter is >100 feet away from the home.
- The scaling Kh factor of the meter must be between 1.0 and 9.9. Over 95% of all meters in the US are either 7.2 or 1.0.
- ElectroMechanical/Disk Meters with the disk clearly visible still comprise the majority of US meters, and the Power Cost Monitor is compatible with these, with the Kh range above.
- If Automated Meter Reading / Encoder Receiver Transmitter modules are installed, they must not block the frontal view of the black mark on the disk.
- High load/amp service typically requires meters with Kh outside the range above, or meters with no disk visible.
- Commonly supported digital meters:
- CENTRON by Itron (Previously manufactured by Schlumberger)
- GE I-210
- Elster REX
- Sensus iCon
- Disk meters with disk visible and Kh 1.0 – 9.9
- Net meters (when the disk spins in both directions), or digital meters that display power used and supplied back are not compatible as their output is different than standard meters.
- Hybrid meters with a digital module covering an electromechanical meter typically do not have the required output, and are not compatible
