Eco-friendly. Human-friendly. Animal-friendly.
Headquartered in Martha’s Vineyard with an office and distribution facilities in Boston, EcoMV is a packaging and food service disposables company committed to eco-friendly and socially responsible business practices. All of our products are made from plants such as wheat stalk, a 100 percent compostable resource that’s also GMO- and gluten-free. Unlike petroleum-based Styrofoam and plastics, our plant-based products are sustainably produced and will burn clean when incinerated or naturally break down when disposed of in a commercial compost facility or landfill.
Our commitment to the environment is fully matched by our commitment to building positively responsible relationships with our business partners, consumers, and the communities in which we live and work. We fulfill that commitment by:
Ensuring that all of our products are manufactured under fair working conditions and safe for use by humans and animals
Educating consumers about environmental challenges and the product solutions we offer through our in-store marketing, newsletters, and website
Consulting with grocery stores and other businesses to help them become more sustainable through their energy, material, and water use; waste management; and buying practices
Offsetting our carbon footprint by purchasing annual energy credits and employing energy-saving technologies whenever possible
What makes us different
From product manufacturing to distribution to consumer use, the EcoMV business model is structured to benefit not only the environment but also the people who produce, sell, and use our products. Here’s how:
We provide an even better solution than recycling. More than 300 million barrels of oil are used each year to make disposable Styrofoam and plastic products. Even when properly recycled, these products still constitute a significant strain on the environment due to oil extraction and processing. Although a handful of cities and towns have banned Styrofoam food packaging, it still remains one of the most commonly used – and most environmentally toxic – disposable materials in the U.S. EcoMV is on a mission to change that with products made from annually renewable resources such as wheat stalk. Because they’re plant-based,our products don’t need to be recycled and break down naturally whether disposed of in a backyard compost, commercial compost facility, or landfill.
We never compromise when it comes to people (or animals). EcoMV ensures that all of our products are manufactured under fair working conditions and are safe for use by humans and animals. We also make a concerted effort to support businesses and initiatives that have a positive impact on society. For example, we partner with WORK Inc., a Boston-based organization that provides work training and job opportunities for disabled persons, to package and distribute our products.
We eliminate common barriers to eco-friendly living. Some people don’t recycle or buy eco-friendly products because of the associated effort and costs. EcoMV eliminates those barriers by making affordable, eco-friendly products that decompose naturally without being recycled. The result? Responsible consumerism that’s effortless and economical.
