The red line for climate change is 350 ppm. From the beginning of civilization until about 200 years ago the concentration of CO2 in our atmosphere was about 275 ppm, but as the Industrial Revolution lead to the burning of coal and gas the concentrations began to rise at first fairly slowly, but as we burn more and more fossil fuels it is rising very quickly.

 

The concentration of C02 in the atmosphere is 400 ppm and rising at 2 ppm per year.
