“Living with Ed” is back
Ed Begley, Jr. and his wife Rachelle Carson are back with a whole new season (13 episodes) of “Living with Ed” beginning with broadcasts this Sunday, Aug. 26 at 10:00 pm and Monday, Aug. 27 at 10:30 pm on HGTV. The highly popular green reality TV show has charmed us with its depiction of a dyed-in-the-wool environmentalist and his actress wife working through the challenges of living green. Living With Ed was ahead of the curve when the program launched last January. Time magazine reports that a slew of environmental shows are following along. One of my favorite episodes in the first season showed Ed’s friend and neighbor Bill Nye “The Science Guy” putting up solar panels on his roof. Ed and Bill were engaged in a friendly competition to see whose solar equipment produced the most electricity and thus required the least draw from the grid. In an age of senseless battles in daily life (e.g., road rage incidents), this is one competition we can all embrace. Who is the greenest guy or gal in the neighborhood? The new season features Ed sharing practical and affordable green ideas with famous friends Jay Leno, Bradley Whitford, Larry Hagman, Sharon Lawrence, and Jackson Browne. Begley was one of TerraPass’ earliest members and ever since he has been an enthusiastic and effective spokesman for our cause. You can even buy a TerraPass on the Living with Ed web site! After the season debut this coming Sunday and Monday, more episodes will air on Sunday, Sep. 2 at 10:00 pm and Monday, Sep. 3 at 10:30 pm. Living With Ed’s regular prime-time slot will be Mondays at 10:30 pm starting Sep. 10. Tags: Ed Begley, Living with EdFurther reading

CommentsI watched this show from it's start and was disappointed to hear it was off the air. You can't imagine how happy I am to hear that this informative "reality" show is back. "Living with Ed" has increased my knowledge of environmental issues and strengthened my commitment to living green. Ed's show IS informative. Please note: I recently received info on Solar Energy set-up on your home with no upfront cost (Citizenre: www. solarrentals.net) being pushed by Ed Begley, Jr. Since you are pushing his show on HGTV, you should also inform everyone that Citizenre/SolarRentals is a MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING (MLM) company/scam and they should take a look at http://www.mlm-thetruth.com/ to find out about how real it is. Everyone should ask who gets the $$ for the surplus energy the units produce, the user or Citizenre? They should know that they will still have to pay their local company for the minimum hook-up fee each month in case they need more energy than their units produce. If you purchase the unit yourself, most local power companies will buy the excess from you. Lots of things to think about…too bad they set it up as a multi-level - many, many people are "absolutely terrified" of getting involved with MLM’s (I been burned myself!). Great idea tho - hmmm - maybe some billionaire benefactor would start a similar company with start-up money (Bill Gates - are you out there?) or maybe we could get the "government" to go for it - yeah, right - not until after the election - if then! What do you think?? Post a comment |

This show was the precipice for me actually committing to helping the environment, and not just talking about it. I bought my first Terra Pass (plan on keeping it up to date) and became a vegetarian as my commitment to helping the environment. I must admit, I am more vocal in my workplace now. I recycle (most of the time), where I did not recycle before. I am more conscious of my impact on this planet. I believe my friends are too, as I am rubbing off on them a bit. It is only together that we can make the most impact. But alone we can decided to make a change.
