Green Glitz in SF with Gore, Global Green and Lawrence Bender

Tom Arnold | June 7, 2006

Al Gore in ActionThe TerraPass crew and friends went to go see An Inconvenient Truth on Friday. We won’t bore you with another review of Gore’s movie, but we will tell you to go see it, and drag everyone you know with you.

Beyond, that, we thought we would wow non-SFers with the green glitz that surrounded the movie’s premier in San Francisco. We are continually surprised just how hot green is. The movie theatre was packed, lines snaked out the door, people came early, and the after-party generously sponsored by GlobalGreen was on a strict RSVP-only list.

We passed around flyer cards with eleven concrete tips for fighting global warming. If you want 100 sent to you for free, just order them from our store and we’ll send them along to you next Tuesday.

OK, we lied about the review. This official cut of the movie is much better than the one shown to TEDsters in April. More effort was put into a nice denouement, providing an inspirational uplift to a message that can leave you feeling like you were just slapped in the face (i.e., awake, but still looking for solutions).

Check out the "indy" Global Warming documentary, sadly overshadowed by the Gore pic since America evidently can't handle two enviro-docs at the same time... There was a version of it on PBS, and it will appear in theaters near you soon enough, but you can get a peek or order a copy at www.thegreatwarming.com Lots on solutions, by the way...
